That strawberry close-up is going to be so much fun, especially with all the veins of the leaves with it.
I’ve said it before, but you have such a good grasp on value and mark making. I’m still in awe of your Drawing I portrait. You’re gonna do great with this. 😀

One thing I might do – and this is completely up to you – is maybe, when you are drawing, you could increase the contrast and value range on the zoomed out picture? I think the big plant has a great range, but the thread does not have as big a range of shadows and light.

Good luck and have fun with this! I really look forward to seeing it.

Beautiful texture on the strawberry and the leaves so far, I think it is going to be so fun to play with the white charcoal and develop the skin-like look of the strawberry. I definitely think it was smart to focus on the strawberry for your macro because it has the most potential to be really cool. I will be really looking forward to how you continue to create texture and value in this macro drawing and how your progress comes along with the zoomed-out drawing. I will love to see a clear connection between both pieces of your diptych, so make sure that the strawberry doesn’t get lost in the larger still life. Excited to see where these go from here!

You got good advice from J and Katelyn. I look forward to seeing how you resolved the diptych this week. Remember, value contrast, pattern and texture are our key components. Keep up the good work and have FUN!

I love how the texture of the leaves in your zoomed out drawing has developed! I can also tell the beginning texture and value work on the strawberry in that drawing looks like it is on the right track. I think the next challenge for this drawing is to address the large white space around the three objects. Make sure they do not appear to be floating in space and ground it with including some abstracted lines and details from the background or the texture of the wood. Nice work so far.
